Girls on the Run is a 10-week program that meets twice a week in the fall and again in the spring. Fifteen to 20 girls participate in each session. Girls on the Run curriculum encourages positive emotional, social, mental, and physical development. They begin to understand themselves, learn about teamwork, and develop healthy relationships with others. Physical activity is woven into the lessons and helps each girl to begin to develop a healthy lifestyle that can last a lifetime.
The culminating event is a 5K run on a Saturday morning. The fall run takes place in the Iowa City area and the spring run is sponsored in the Cedar Rapids area.
